Everyone Is Doing It!
Have You?
Have You?
As of the date of this post, Evans City has a census response rate of 73.3%!! Almost 3/4 of our little town has responded, either by phone or mail, but mostly online (61.9%). A few months ago, we all were supposed to have received a mailing inviting us to respond to the census. It includes a really handy number that you can put into the website and update your info. Well, I don’t know about you, but at my house, those little scraps of paper seem to go missing as soon as they pass the threshold of my front door. It’s a good thing that, for people like me, your friendly neighborhood secretary, it really doesn’t matter if you still have that mailer or not!! It’s still super simple to just go online to https://my2020census.gov/ and get yourself counted. Why should you be counted? Because you’re important, of course! But there will be a post on that a little later… stay tuned!
Maybe there’s something holding you back from completing your census. Is it because you can’t use the computers at the library due to this unfortunate Covid Crisis? Is it because you don’t know how to use a computer? You’re so used to sending out texts that you’ve forgotten how to actually make a phone call? Maybe you’re looking forward to the one day in 10 years that a complete stranger comes knocking at your door to ask you how many people live in your household, and since you haven’t seen anyone since the beginning of March you’re actually looking forward to a little human interaction. Ok, probably not. Whatever the reason is that you are of the remaining 26.7% that hasn’t gotten around to it yet, we have something that can help. Starting Wednesday, August 12, the borough office will have an iPad available to allow you to complete your census. If you are able to get over to my office during regular business hours, I’ll be able to walk you through the process and be available to answer any questions or issues you might have. I promise it will be simple. I promise it won’t take long. I promise there will be candy involved! Unless you want a sticker… that can be arranged.
Make sure you have a mask to enter the building, and I will have one as well. You can even call and make an appointment if you want.
Together, we can make Evans City amazing. Completing the 2020 Census is a great way to start.
