Republican Stephenie Scialabba has emerged victorious in the race for the state House 12th District seat, beating Democrat Robert Vigue. Scialabba replaces Daryl Metcalfe, a Republican who announced his retirement earlier this year. With 20,907 votes, Scialabba came out on top against Vigue’s 12,633 votes.

The 12th District includes Adams, Cranberry and Jackson townships, as well as Callery, Evans City, Harmony, Mars, Seven Fields, Valencia and Zelienople boroughs. A cybersecurity and data privacy lawyer, Scialabba emphasized her legal experience as an asset in her campaign. Vigue, an Air Force veteran who works as an IT analyst for Kromek in Jackson Township, also ran for the seat.

According to Scialabba, the turnout was impressive and she was happy with the results. Vigue was encouraged by the high turnout as well, though he is unsure if he will run for his seat on the Valencia Borough Council again. Despite some difficulties, Vigue described his experience of running for the state House as largely positive.
