EVANS CITY, PA — Evans City Borough, in partnership with the Harmony-Evans City VFW Post #499, proudly dedicated a newly planted elm tree in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America during the Family Freedom Festival held Saturday, August 22.
The dedication was an opportunity for members of the community, Borough officials, veterans, and families to come together to celebrate our nation’s history and the freedoms preserved through the service and sacrifice of generations of Americans.
The elm tree will serve as a living and lasting tribute to America’s 250th anniversary, while also representing strength, growth, community, and the responsibility of future generations to preserve the freedoms and traditions that have shaped our nation.
Evans City Borough extends its appreciation to Harmony-Evans City VFW Post #499 for its partnership in the dedication and for its continued commitment to veterans and the Evans City and Harmony communities.
The Borough would also like to thank everyone who participated in the Family Freedom Festival and helped make the America 250 dedication a meaningful part of this historic national celebration.
Mayor Dean Zinkhann also participated in the dedication but is not pictured in the accompanying photograph.
The newly planted elm will remain as a reminder of this historic milestone and of Evans City’s place in the nationwide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary — 1776–2026.
